Spirituality has become a recognized area of importance in the mental health field, even raising the importance of a multicultural competency requirement. However, the reasons for addressing it and how to engage Christian clients with biblical spirituality are sometimes unclear. This workshop will cover the necessity for licensed mental health professionals to develop a biblical foundation for the spiritual dimension in counseling with Christian clients, along with evidence supporting the value and benefits when spirituality is addressed in session. The discussion will focus on building client spirituality from within the context of a biblical perspective, while incorporating the insights of Dallas Willard and the Neurotheology of Jay Wilder.
